Your contract for all RYA Interactive Courses and Practical Sailing Services is with Howellsail Ltd. Registered in England, company number 5039877 whose registered office is at Beaufort House, 26 Manordale Close, Flockton. Wakefield. West Yorkshire WF4 4SX. Any reference to ‘the company’, ‘Howellsail’ or ‘We’, means Howellsail Ltd.

Payment & Dispatch

Payment for Online course fees is due in full at the time of enrolment. Payment for other courses, classroom, charters, yacht deliveries etc., by prior arrangement. All payments must be made in GB Pounds. Payment can be made by secure on line e-payment, cheque, or cash. We reserve the right to allow any payments to clear before dispatching your student pack and passwords. We aim to dispatch student packs within one working day of payment. Any goods are dispatched by post or courier, whichever is deemed the most appropriate. We will not be held responsible for any duty or expenses incurred in the country of delivery.

Please let us know within 7 working days of the delivery date if anything in your course is damaged, faulty or missing. We will repair, replace or supply the items in question.

Howellsail Ltd is pleased to confirm that all customer data is handled confidentially and we do not disclose your information to any third party. By enrolling you confirm that we may hold necessary information about you including your name and address, course booking and course record details.


You have the right to cancel your online order for up to 14 working days after your delivery date. If you do wish to cancel your course for any reason please send an email to info@howellsail.com. Access to online course material will be terminated immediately. Any goods supplied by us must be returned within 14 working days of cancellation unopened and in new condition to Howellsail Ltd., at the customer’s expense. Damaged or goods not returned within 10 working days will result in a refund less the cost of the goods. An administration fee of £50 will be deducted from any refund. This is the full extent of our liability to you.

In the event of a classroom course being cancelled by us for whatever reason, you will have the option of accepting an alternative date or having a full refund of all monies paid.


Online Day Skipper and Coastal/Yachtmaster courses.
Great care has been taken in preparing our course material; however we can accept no liability for any errors, omissions, or alterations, or for consequences ensuing upon the use of, reliance on, any information in a course. We reserve the right to make alterations and changes to the content without notice as part of our policy of continuous improvement. The On Line Package plus instruction and advice service provided by Howellsail Ltd is available to the student for a maximum of six months (with optional extensions) from the date of enrolment. The issue of completion certificates for RYA courses is conditional on the student having attained the standard of ability required by the RYA to the satisfaction of Howellsail Ltd.

The training charts, which are a compilation of numerous charts, and the practice tables are for training purposes only and must not be used for real navigation.

RYA Interactive Online Courses. (PPR, VHF/SRC, Essential Navigation)
Students will retain log in information until they have completed the course and received the relevant certificate.


All material supplied, including material accessible on line and assessment and examination material is copyright, and the student undertakes to use the materials for personal use only. No other person shall be permitted to study, copy, or attempt to reproduce such material, or use it for any other purpose whatsoever without explicit written permission from Howellsail Ltd, our associates or suppliers.

Complaints & Feedback

If you do have any complaints about the Company, or the service provided, please address them in writing, by letter or email, as soon as possible to the Principal at Howellsail Ltd. We will acknowledge receipt by return or at the earliest possible time, advising you of when you should expect to receive a response. Any complaint will be recorded, investigated promptly, and you will be advised of the outcome and any proposals to resolve the issue. We do consider any complaints seriously and actively seek customer feedback as part of our constant endeavour to improve the service we offer.

Charter Bookings Terms & Conditions

Telephone bookings will be held without deposit for a maximum of 24 hours.

Deposits are non refundable.

The balance is due one month before sailing.

In the event of non payment we reserve the right to re sell the charter and the deposit will be forfeited.

In the event of cancellation prior to the final balance being due only the deposit is forfeited.

If cancellation is after the date of final payment the client is liable to pay the outstanding balance, should we be unable to re let the space. At the company’s discretion we may transfer the reservation to an acceptable alternative date.

The company reserve the right to alter the published schedule or substitute an alternative vessel. If this is unacceptable to the client a full refund shall be made.

No responsibility what so ever will be accepted for air fares or other costs.

The company shall not accept claims and shall not be liable at any time for claims or expenses caused by circumstances beyond its control including sickness, accident, travel delays, weather, strikes, war or civil unrest.

In the event of the company canceling a charter or course we shall be liable only for full refund of fees paid.

No payment will be paid for incidental costs.

No student or charterer shall bring aboard any contraband, drugs or other substance or item without the prior knowledge and permission of the skipper.

Signing the booking form signifies acceptance of the company’s terms and conditions.

In the event a dispute is not settled by mutual agreement it is agreed that The British Law Society shall appoint an arbiter whose decision shall be final and that wherever the dispute occurred both the client and the company shall be governed by British Law.

Navathome Online Theory Courses Terms & Conditions

The contract is between Navathome.com and the student. Under Navathome.com and consumer protection (Distance Selling) regulations you have a statutory cooling off period of 14 business days from the day you receive your course. During this period you can cancel your purchase up to 14 days from the day of purchase.

At any time during this period you can notify the training centre that you wish to cancel your contract with us and we will give a full refund including any delivery charges.

The course materials must be returned in an ‘as new’ condition and the postage paid.

If the course materials are being returned because they are faulty then the training centre will refund any postage costs.

Access to the online course material is terminated immediately. You will not be able to claim a full refund if the course material has been damaged or if you have no proof of purchase.

The training centre reserves the right to deduct for the net cost of any missing or damaged course materials and postage.

Payments for course fees are due, in full, at the time of enrolment. Payment can be made by bank transfer or by cheque in GBP, drawn on a UK bank, or by Debit/Credit card or Paypal.

In the case of payment by cheque we reserve the right to allow the cheque to clear before dispatching your student pack.

Once payment has been made and confirmed students will be sent the student pack and be supplied with the log in information to access the online course.

The student pack will be sent on the next working day and delivery to Europe is included in the course price.

Additional fees may be applied to addresses outside of these areas. Navathome will not be held responsible for any duty or expenses incurred in the country of delivery.

Course expiry
There is an extendable access period of 6 months set for the course. An admin fee of £30 is charged for each time the course is extended.

If the access lapses it can still be extended anytime within a period of 3 years from the date the access period lapsed.

If a course remains dormant for more than 3 years, (has lapsed and not been extended within a period of three years) it will be terminated and the log in removed.

Once a student has passed the assessment their course is complete and their access terminated.

Internet access
Students must have access to the internet and email to complete the course.

The course is not transferable and access is for the applicant only.

Please check that the free trial runs on your device before booking. The courses do not use a platform so work on most devices including iPad, iPhone, PC, Mac, Android etc.

There some issues with the free chart plotter simulator provided by the RYA. It works on PC and Mac but not on mobile devices. It is not essential to the courses so can be worked around if a student does not have access the PC based units.

Pre-course knowledge
Students should be at the correct level for the course being taken. Coastal/Yachtmaster theory is required before taking the RYA Ocean theory.

What we provide
We will provide online back up and land line telephone backup as required by each student and every endeavour will be made to help students achieve their aims.

We will not disclose information about students unless we are legally obliged to do so or a student has agreed in writing in advance.

By enrolling you confirm that we may hold necessary business information about you including your name, address, course booking, payment and course record. No credit card information is held by Navathome.

Any contract between you and us shall be governed by English law and the courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

All dealings, correspondence and contact between us and you shall be made or conducted in the English language.

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of course information. However, we cannot accept any liability for errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the course content.

We continuously improve the course content and we do welcome any feedback from students which improve the quality of the course.

All online material has been written and is under copyright to Navathome.com Ltd/ No part of the online documents can be reproduced, stored in or introduced into a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, (electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise) or for any purpose, without the express written permission of Vic and Lyn Punch.
